Hare, The Form

£3,200.00

The Form depicts a crouching hare in winter.
This atmospheric oil painting records an actual encounter between myself and a hare late one afternoon on a cold winter’s day.
The hare was attempting to take refuge in its shallow ‘form’, a mere impression in the frozen stubble at a field margin. Artist and subject kept eye-contact for a long while, before I retreated to the warmth of my car. I used the Land Rover as a mobile hide to continue observing the hare for a few minutes longer, and then I drove home feeling sorry for the hare which would be spending the night out in the cold, snowy field.
Art is always an emotional journey.
