The Loris Who Loved Shoes

I have been fascinated by Lorises ever since I saw the Slender Loris (with baby) at London Zoo in 1988. Attracted by the deliberate movement, beautiful colouring and of course those eyes! Some of the original pencil sketches are shown below.

But it was only years later I decided to make the Slender Loris the main character in a picture book.

The Loris who loved shoes, of course lived in a shoe shop, where her only friends were the shoes. They were very exotic friends - python mules, water-snake sandals, and leopard pumps to name but a few... but despite loving them all very much and having LOTS of fun, for Loris something else was missing..

Her trip to the rainforest however was not what she expected.
A moving tale about a creature who needs to be noticed.
